Got this today as part of a trade....thought it looked cool. Are these worth more than bullion due to the story around Norfed?

I've seen those Norfed silver rounds on ebay go for a great deal more than spot. I know that certain years and sizes are rarer than others but I would say anywhere from 35-60 depending on who wants it.

Most definitely worth more. Check ebay sales. I have a feeling that in the future these will keep an elevated value b/c of their unique story/history.

I thought they were banned from ebay? The feds stepped in and shut down sales. No?

Copied this from Wikipedia Quote: In May 2009, von NotHaus and others were charged with federal crimes in connection with the Liberty Dollar and, on July 31, 2009, von NotHaus announced that he had closed the Liberty Dollar operation, pending resolution of the criminal charges.[4] On March 18, 2011, von NotHaus was pronounced guilty of "making, possessing, and selling his own currency".[5][6] Never heard of Norfed and thought it was interesting.

Supposedly banned from ebay but all they have done is cut down volume of sales from 100 to a few per day. Bernie Von NotHaus STILL is walking around free - set some sort of record for being charged yet not yet prosecuted. After liking the designs on these rounds, reading up on them, and following the story, I believe the feds know they made an illegal seizure. It looks to me (note that this is just my opinion) that the feds shutting him down was simply a political move. They knew they could not legally do anything (in fact someone has taken up producing the new Liberty Dollar in the same designs but made sure to correct everything on the list they used to charge Von NotHaus), so to stop him they raided/seized/and likely, after awhile, will simply (maybe) offer an apology, use tax payer money for a court case to re-imburse, and their primary problem is solved. Again - remember - this is inly my opinion - I could be totally wrong on the motives of the feds - this is just what it looks like to me. Millions of these rounds were in use and I am near a sizable town where these rounds were circulating pretty regular (Chambersburg, PA). They actually had a local vending machine to exchange a $20.00 for a NORFED round. The locals thought this was a good idea - government paper for silver - it went over pretty big - even when silver was only 14,00 an oz. The people used them as $20.00s. You can see by my avatar I liked this design. They are beautiful in hand. I wish I could have gotten one of the gold 1 ounce coins, but never could afford it.

Hi all, Any update on the collectability of these? I have picked up a few in the last few weeks from a private seller.. Both $20 and $50, for just over spot... I know the history and it interests me.. but it has gone very quiet on these forums, and with ebay. I may have the option to pick up a few more.. Worth it?

Definitely worth it, especially when just over spot.

These seem to have fallen from grace, seems like plenty on the bay, no premiums really.
