to CCF. A pic would help a lot. As of now it sounds like an over polished die made the MM look thinner then normal. If that's the case there would be no added premium.A pic would tell a lot though.

I will take a few pics later today,,first I must do some art work..Over polish no I do not think so,,its about 2 times the normal size and it is not in the same placement, its much more lower and much more in the middle of the date then over the 8 as the D is on any other 1987 D,,but I will take a few pic later,,thanks for the reply, cosmos

Denver used a large thin mintmark starting in the mid-1980s, that style is perfectly normal. Mintmark positioning has some normal variation because the mintmark was applied to each working die by hand until 1989.

So ya I just check pics on ebay all the D's are over the 7 in 1987 and yes some times parallel some times little slanted but all was over the 7 and much thicker and smaller this this D on this coin,I see nothing like this one,,find it hard to understand that this coin is common or someone would be selling it in UNC as they all sell the other 1987 D UNC so no way this is common coin guy,,Cosmos

It is common as the hand punching located the mint mark where it lay in different locations. Same punch used on all denominations until the punch was retired. Not a die variety. Not a RPM or DDO. Just a normal coin.

There are currently 74 1987-D dimes for sale on ebay so they are most certainly listed there. You are not going to find them listed by mintmark location because slight positional variation is normal and completely irrelevant unless the mintmark is actually touching the rim or another device. Once again, THE POSITION OF THE D ON YOUR COIN IS PERFECTLY NORMAL.

Is the OP question placement of the MM or the boldness of the MM,thick/thin?

nobody has this D on ebay,,most all the 1987 D's are the same on ebay,,but I do see a few off center D's above the 7,,nothing even close to this one..Have a great day,I will not be responding to this blog anymore,,I got the opinions I wanted to hear and I am happy with that,so far they have been all wrong but that is ok,never said its a RPM,Doubled Die or DDO,,just a neat different Mint Mark and Placement for a 1987 D Roosevelt,,Cosmos
