Just got this today after buying it on ebay. These are the photos the seller posted. I tried to take pics with my camera but they didn't turn out very good. The dime I received is definitely the one in the photos. I was hoping some Mercury dime fans could verify for me that it is a true 1942/1 D, and maybe give me an opinion as to the condition. As always I appreciate any advice I can get.

It looks like the real deal to me. Your first photo makes it pretty clear with the little nub under the 4 and the 2 in the date. As far as grade.... I'm good at finding Mercs, but that's about it!

Looks good from my porch. I have it at F15, and having looked up the auction, I'm of the opinion that you got an excellent deal.

I appreciate the information. I'm trying to decide whether to put it in my album or send it to a TPG for certification.

That is a real one for sure. You can see that little stub under the 4. The presence of the 1 is not the best but can be seen. I would simply put it in my Album. If you have an Album with the slot of it, no sence in keeping it blank. Nice coin and possibly somewhere between F-12 and VF-20. Not sure what you paid but possibly would be in the $600 to $800 ranges.

I paid $355.00 for it. There were a lot of bids on it, but apparently nobody else wanted it too bad.

It will want to be TPG-certified for liquidation, but nothing's stopping you from popping it into an album for the moment.

TPG would be great if you want to prove it's real and the grade.

It looks good to me. May grade F-15, possibly VF-20. Nice pickup!

Quote: TPG would be great if you want to prove it's real and the grade. Considering the amount of money involved this is HIGHLY recommended.
