I have been SWAMPED with coin purchases as of late, and the fun never seems to end. I ordered some P D and S 2013 McHenry Quarters and I am seeing some weird issues with the date.

I have gone through a total of 40 quarters and I have six that look like this.

I see some with Machine Doubling, if that is what you want to call this new pie-sqeezing technology they use. But there is more to it.

The coins seem to have a lower flat doubling that shows up on some of the McHenry's. Like I said, I haven't had time to break out the exact numbers yet, but I thought I would pass on the pics of what I am seeing.

I have emailed John Wexler about the issue. If he replies I will let you know what he says.

It looks like Machine Doubling on incuse devices. The Machine Doubling on incuse devices makes it enlarge. Opposite what we see on machine doubled external devices we are used to seeing.

Wow that's some cool doubling. Looks like the 3 is MD with another MD 3 to the east, tripled MD coop? Maybe?

It is hard to claim machine tripling, when the coin is only struck once. The loose movement of the dies are the problem because the machine is loose. Machine Doubling is actually damage to the coins devices.

It took me awhile to mentally wrap my head around MDing when dealing with incuse devices. (Coop helped me understand it a month or so ago) But it makes sense if you think about it. Its way different than MDing on a Raised Device. Its still flat shelf like but its not as deep as a normal incuse device should be.
