Buying ASE tubes of 20 from reputable PM dealer.

Okay, so how necessary is it to open tubes, examine contents, put everything back, etc.?

I've already gone through a few of them, but it sure feels like an awful lot of work.

Then again...

Thoughts?

if you bought from reputable dealer why to examine contents? pick randomly one tube and see how are the coins - that's it/

if it was from someone else - it is necessary to check every one of them ... on order to have a good sleep ))

always check i'd say. I bought from very reputable dealers and found a few coins short before just due to their error of pulling a tube they dipped into for individual sales.

I'm with poboxw on this one...

Many stackers examine every coin/round/bar they buy and many stick with that operating procedure regardless of the quantity purchased.
The only thing I've never heard of anybody inspecting is coins in mint-sealed tubes or capsules, which I think everybody leaves sealed.

You'll occasionally see monster boxes offered for sale with the wording "opened only for inspection ," which tells me that cautious stackers
even prefer to verify every coin in a MB so they can be certain of the contents of the box.

Depending on how militant you are about coin condition and handling...
1---If the coins you're buying are secondary and circulated, it might be good to wash your hands well before handling the coins.
2---You might want to give each coin a quick wipe with rubbing alcohol on a soft cotton cloth and let them air-dry before putting them away.
3---If the coins are new, it might be good to wear gloves when handling them.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I ended up examining them Sunday morning. And I agree, going forward there should be no question, look at each piece. I'll sleep better.

Tubes were taped closed by the dealer, all 2013, appear fresh from mint. Cotton gloves (old habit now). I was pleased that I didn't need to re-tape the tubes, seems the mint has improved them and now they stay closed. I have a few from 2009, they require tape to stay closed.

Thanks again.
