I have bought counterfeits before and simply not paid for them. ebay won't penalize you if you "buy" counterfeits and then not pay for them. :) You just gotta call them.

Can you please share what you saw that leads it to be fake?

I really can't see the difference.
The color is different, and so is the rim.
That's all I seen.

I'm just looking for more information so I could learn :)

between the 2 coins the 1 in 1796 is in a different place-the first star touches the hair on one but not the other-the dentils are more pronounced on the genuine coin-still most of these fakes look similar haven't seen one in person but there doesn't appear to be as much relief in the bust and they do not have flow lines from the minting process

Fine work, Stringboogie!

Will ebay inform the buyer? How might this play out?

Same thing (fakes) can happen all over ebay, not just coins.

Buyers have caution!

The fake also only has 8 stars on the left side even though the holder says 9.

I'm not a expert coin buyer buy I usually buy on ebay from established coin shops with other high dollar items that have had a feedback rating going back years.
