Went by my bank this morning to pick up a couple of boxes of cents to search. I got $20 bank rolled and $30 customer rolled. In the past, I have had pretty good luck with customer rolls, but nothing like today. Out of the customer rolled, I got three rolls of 1960's, five and a quarter rolls of 1970D, six rolls of 1975D, three and a half rolls of 73D, one roll of 1963, three rolls of 1960, three rolls of 1982, two rolls of 1989, two rolls of 1990D, and one roll each of 84, 85, 87, 91, 91D, 92, 92D, 94, 96, 97D and 98. The best part of it all is that ALL but about one roll are full red uncirculated! Not sure why someone would separate these by year then dump them. The opened roll below Santa's is all 1960's. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Nice haul indeed. I suspect desperation, theft, or inheritance.

Yup, nice score indeed. Makes you wonder if the pre-60's will be next.

Quote: Not sure why someone would separate these by year then dump them. The opened roll below Santa's is all 1960's. Easy. They compiled the rolls years ago, and thinned the collection, realizing there's not much value in them even in the long run. Same reason I dump parts of my collection from time to time (no-date buffalos, post-1950 nickels, clad proof halves, etc).
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

Concur with fistfulladirt ... these are coins that while appealing do not have any long term potential for value increases. IMHO ... Someone realized that and cashed them in. Suggest you go through them and find the few high MS or variety coins the original owner hopefully missed ... that would be a true score. David

Here's a paraphrased quote from an article about the tv show Storage Wars:
"When we first started the show, we wanted to include stories about the people who owned the lockers that were being bidded on. We dropped that idea because the stories were just too sad."
