I took my chances a few years back and picked this up off of Teletrade.

I like your chances.

Is it off-center, or is that a photographic artifact?

It's in an NGC holder, so it's just how it's tilted...not off center.

Whoa, another beauty from Prethen!
I don't see any significant defects. It looks better than my 1884 PCGS PR-65, so I'll guess the grade as PR-66. It appears to have significant cameo contrast, too. Very nice.

Any other guesses?

Jaobler, I'll have to take another look at the coin. It doesn't sit in a Cameo holder today and I'm not sure if the photos give it a false looking cameo. However, that said, there probably is at least a thin layer of frost to prevent the devices from looking shiny.

PR67. That's a beautiful coin. You're going to get me interested in collecting this series if you keep it up!

I just looked at it in the bank. There's definitely some light cameo to the coin. Funny, I never noticed it before. I don't think it's enough to get a Cameo designation anywhere though.

Pictures like this one can be deceiving. I don't have the right kind of setup to get a properly lit coin where the mirrors show as well as fine detail such as hairlines. I believe there's a hairline that's going across the face but it's not horrible and maybe one or two others.

So, based on all this, would you believe the coin is NGC PR64? Maybe it's an upgrade candidate one day. I agree that the coin is PQ for the grade and is beautiful. Proof 65 starts getting pricey and the services are a bit reluctant to give it out too easily.
