How are most coin pics done for ebay? I have taken a few pics of my coins with my DSLR and have got decent results but it is quite time consuming setting up the tripod, various exposures, images to the computer, photo editing and so on. I see many sellers with many images and cannot imagine that they do it that way. Is there some special scanner or what? I'd post more pics on this site but it is so time consuming.
It's all over the block. Some use USB microscopes (e.g. DinoLite), others use cell phones (and take terrible pictures). People doing any kind of volume have something setup permanently... casual sellers do it in batches. Crooks steal other people's picture or use "stock" images. Some shoot at 640x480, others post larger pictures or crop & size DLSR images to fit.

On ebay each seller does his own thing (including stealing others images). The best images are done with a DSLR. But there are a lot of newer point-and-shoot cameras that do very well.
USB microscopes are overkill. They are only necessary for close-up imaging of DDO / DDR or RPD/RPM.
