No need for any denomination notes in the US save the 5 and 20 . The 1 replace with a coin , same with the 2 . Can't remember the last time I used a ten , fifty or a hundred ... Except for the World Series of Poker or Coin shows , no need for large amount of cash anywhere . I just carry my DEBIT CARD , never use CREDIT. A two hundred bank note .aint never going to happen !

Quote: I just carry my DEBIT CARD , never use CREDIT. I used to have the same mindset but I've done a 180° change. Debit is similar to cash - no earnings on spending and zero safeguards in place. Credit Card - earning anywhere from 1% to 3% and the ability to challenge the sale if something goes south. And, I totally disagree with your opinion on coins. Coins are inconvenient and becoming more and more obsolete every day.

I would rather exercise personal responsibility with the credit card (I pay off every month) than risk using a debit card. Quote: I went to the grocery store yesterday. And if you are worried about being tracked, I hate to break it to you, but all the cameras and AI are doing the heavy lifting now.

Quote: ... Are people still using cash for $200 and up transactions ? ... What's wrong with cash? It seems like a very simple way to do business to me. I agree 100% that a credit card is superior to a debit card. I use my debit card at the bank to identify myself because my bank requires it. The only other time I use my debit card is to scrape the ice off my windshield in the wintertime. I don't mind using my credit card. It is especially convenient at the gas pump. Just don't forget to pay the entire balance each month.

Using cash to pay for fuel, food, clothing and anything else over $20 seems unwise. The cash back feature of a credit card is one of our hedges against inflation.

Maybe it depends which bank you have. My bank has the same protections for their debit card as their credit card, no difference in reimbursement if there is fraudulent activity. But I often use cash, cash is the safest transaction, safer than a check, debit or credit card. I don't worry about a scam device on the gas pump, a restaurant waitress stealing card number, a check stolen from the mail box and the account hacked, all of which has happened to family members. A lot of stackers use cash to buy bullion silver/gold at coin stores/shows because there's a charge card fee and there's no record of their name. My wife pays cash to get her hair and nails done because they charge a card fee. Cash is king for daily in person buying and going out to eat in my opinion.

I pay cash inside. If there's a mugger they'll want cash, phone, cards, rings whatever.
