Apparently, I just looked at my email and saw this but I'm a touch iffy on it because I NEVER win stuff like this...

Are there any scams or anything using the APMEX name to get personal information through stuff like this? Call me paranoid if you must, but if it seems too good to be true...

I've never had any bad issues with them. It doesn't cost anything to join their site. nlp

Sounds scammy to me. One way to tell is the reply address. Usually, any legitimate company has name@companyname.com. Usually, scammers will use a slight variation, like WINNER!@ContestCompanyName.com. Slashes, punctuation, spaces, etc. can all be used to disguise a scam email or site. I'm sure a company like Ampex has a phone number you can call just in case.

Another rule of thumb: Winning a contest you never entered is always a scam, all the way back to publisher's clearing house sweepstakes back in the 70's.

It's a contest I knew of, as it's stated right on the APMEX registration page that new accounts are entered in the month's raffle.

The email address checks out via googling it and the number in the email checks out clean. Man, I still can't believe it but nothing is coming up false!
