My dealer recently purchased a fairly large lot of coinage. I was lucky enough to spend my birthday, Friday, perusing this large inventory.
I was lucky enough to be handed the boxes of quarters to sort and catalog. Pull key dates, semi keys, XF/AU/UNC.....
Started with Seated Liberty - about 140 coins. Oldest was 1841.
Middle ground was Standing Liberty - about 20 rolls. ONE 1917 D T1 in G. The remainder were all 1925 to 1930.
Next up, Washington...and LOTS of them. Physically opened every tube, inventoried, etc...because, just because it said "Pre 64" Wash on the tube, does not mean that is what was in the tube.
Multiple AU, NICE AU, 32 D, 34 D, & 36D quarters. I picked several from 37 to 51 for my set.
Will post pictures tomorrow night.

140 Seated Liberty coins! Sounds like a lot of fun.

Having a good relationship with a dealer has its perks. I love to get first looks at new acquisitions. Makes me drool. I am fortunate with my job, I can drop by the shops in my area frequently to view new inventory before it hits the case. It's how I get almost all my "good" stuff. Early bird gets the worm!

Having a good relationship with your dealer is indispensable. I hook my dealer up from time to time and in return, I get some killer deals.

I agree having a good relationship with your dealer is very important.
I know I like going through quarters like that

I'd settle for HAVING a real dealer nearby. I guess suburban DFW is a numismatic as well as cultural wasteland... sure there are the big boys in Dallas itself (Heritage), but I have Zinfandel tastes and budget. And while I'm whining there isn't even a coin club in the whole of Denton county. Dallas, Ft Worth, Collin - all 45m away.

Chicken & Egg. If I knew other local numismatists, I would know where they hang out. But this is Texas:
Last Saturday, driving 416.5mi R/T to Round Rock for a 30 table show and some BBQ isn't THAT weird except it was a coin show, not a Gun & Knife show.
