Hello all, I just made a good deal to purchase this coin, and I wanted to be sure that it was the real deal. I Do not usually purchase unless I am a 100%, but got it at our local coin club meeting. Can anyone tell me what to look for?

I don't know a lot about these, but I say it definitely is an off-center strike and a very nice one to boot. I love that it has the date. It looks like an off-center strike with collar scar. You can see it on the reverse. It looks a lot like the Jefferson nickel on error-ref.com. It's the last one on the page below. Check it out and you will see what I am talking about.

It's real. Looks like about an 85% off-center uniface strike and has the full date. It's always better to have the date on an error coin.

It's better to have it die struck on both sides, but it's not a bad error at all. Zlincons don't have as nice of a look as copper off-center coins most of the time because of the zinc layer being exposed where a copper off-center shows the slide area in the nice bright copper.

I have lots of these in copper and zinc cents, nickels, clad and silver dimes, clad and silver quarters and a couple of clad halfs.

I've had a few Morgans that were off-center 2% to 10% over the years, but I sold those years ago when they did have the prices like they do now.

The best off-center coins to have are mated pairs. The best way to find those is to get lucky with a mint sewn bag.

I've been through several 5000 cent bags and never hit a mated pair.

Genuine. There was another planchet in the coining chamber and this planchet was off-center of the chamber. It was struck between the hammer die (obv) and the planchet in the chamber
