I do not have any expertise on the 3 cent series ... waiting on the experts views. Thanks for bringing it to our attention PG ... did you report the item based on your strong views? David

Those are some weird denticles. Doesn't look like Moe's fake from this thread: https://goccf.com/t/129146Or like the current Chinese product line at aliexpress.

@David. I haven't dropped a dime (or three center) on it yet. Wanted to get other opinions. I'm building a set of these things and am down to the four keys. This one does wave several red flags - denticles, font, surface of the coin, etc. PG

I agree with PG, those are the red flags I see. Liberty on her crown appears to be raised rather than cut into the crown. Denticles are off, font is off, date is off, somewhat mushy appearance, top leaves in the wreath appear to be only 4 leaves rather than 5. Way too many things off for me.

Absolutely a fake. All the details are wrong. He purchased this coin from a Chinese selling website.

A no question fake, modern, and not as good a quality as your typical Chinese fake. The seller has pulled the coin.

If they were real gold, would you at least consider to pester the seller to lower the price so you could buy them?

 - a very bad fake. Spikey deticles, bug eyed, obese numbers, anorexic letters. Not even a good fake.

A very poor and ugly fake. Everything is wrong about it.

Seller got the word and withdrew the listing.

That 1859 $3 is either fake or has been polished within an inch of its life. I don't think it has any collectable value left even if it was authenticated.
