I do not really know what kind of damage this is, my best guess is, that, something was struck through at 1:oo, causing the die to crack and chip away, then messing up the lamination process. but, the damage seems to continue to the reverse, Any Ideas, would be appreciated thanks!

My best guess is a flawed planchet..just a guess because both sides are similar but the die's seems to have done their job.

I see what you mean, especially on the cheek bone area, the design is retained ,kind of struck over the defect.so, yes, I`m leaning toward flawed planchet But, the depression at 1:00 has cracks coming out of it, well, its weird, anyway!

Honestly. That was my first thought too, because the shape of parts, especially on the jaw seem to be roughly the same design as the top left edge of the jewels, but , then again, this is just my guess.Could you please explain why you think so? Thanks SHAFTA9a.

Can't be a die clash if the source of the marks isn't on the other side. I wish it was MS, it'd be easier to see everything. Probably easier to have an idea with the coin in hand.

I have to wonder if some chrome chipped off the die.
