Hello all, any coins you bought that you hoped you didn't get?
For me, it's the Niobium Mother and Baby Ice Fishing, $160, way too much and they are still on sale today!!? In my mind when I bought it, I had a feeling they would sold out quick... guess I was wrong!

Well it didn't sell because the previous Niobium series has a nice wood case and if you buy all four of them, it comes with another nice box to hold all 4 of them ( http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/full-...mCSnxBMgVc). This new series come in normal case. Whose know, they might come with a wooden box at the end like the one they pull with the allegory coins. The coins I regret buying are the Perth Mint bird series coins ( http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalog...coins.aspx). You still can get the first coin. In fact, you still can get any of these coins below cost on many dealers and ebay

Well, need to distinguish between buying for collection and for other purposes....Does it really meter if the coin is still available?
The coins that I rushed to buy and not really need them:
**Glass Butterfly (just wanted to test if midnight CC&C order will pass) - I do not like series; **Perth Mint Glow in the Dark - I like their Arctic series, but specific this one IMO has not really good design; **2003 Canada $1 Coronation Special Edition - I actually searched for 1935-2010 Silver Dollar, but found the 2003 (which has the same reverse) and did impulsive purchase.

Not that much money, but I regret buying the first duck coin. It looked great on the web, but I had second thoughts when I saw it in hand. I should have returned it.

2012 25th anniversary silver-plated commemorative dollar.
2013 colorized 50 cent titanic.
2012 silver plated colorized diamond jubilee of the queen.
I got the loonie for mint price and the other two for 1/2 mint issue price. Those were the first few months of my coin collecting hobby :)
I doubt I'll be able to sell them for anything if I tried. I also regretted buying 3 gold Indian fanams for $80 but I sold the 3 for $110 so I'm satisfied.

There was like one day in August where silver price was 23.00. I bought a 10 oz round that day and some junk quarters. The next day it was 21.

2012 $5 Gold Jubilee
- The only thing I really enjoy about this coin is that it got me into the MC, prior to the Bank of Canada gold. Otherwise it is a lot of packaging for a tiny coin that has not really appreciated in value.

When I was very young I was in my local coin shop (long since closed). The dealer was quite nice to me and often gave me lowball coins free. Once I came with 25p and he said I could have anything from the 50p box! There were all sorts of things in it - including some great foreign silver - but I chose a G-VG 1897 British Victoria Veiled Head shilling, which was probably only worth what I paid. It's gone up in value since with the silver content, of course, so in the long run proved to be a good buy - but I often wonder what bargains I turned away. I also very much regret buying the complete set of all uncirculated UK 2011 Olympic 50p coins from The Royal Mint (in the RM packaging) at the original issue price of £2.99 each - after the Olympics the RM reduced the price to £1.49...

There are not many that I don't like that I bought, but I am regretting buying the Allegory gold coin, not real big on the frosting job mainly but I really like the concept, would have been 100% better without the frosting, and now they are talking about putting the remaining unsold gold coins in a 3 coin set gold, silver, bronze with a box which they should have done in the first place. The mint really Donked out on this one.

I don't regret buying any animal themed coin just cause I'm a sucker for them. My biggest regret would be buying certain sports themed coins. Also I regret getting the first two season square coins from the Perth Mint, I have been thinking of unloading those for a while now.

I was a huge fan of the Group of Seven collection from the RCM until the Gorge coin (5th?). For those that don't know the mint cut out most of the original art so the coin is just a part of an arm with a rock in it's hand. I stopped the collection as soon as I got it and sold the box,the box paid for almost 3 of the coins, that was pretty nice. I'd sell the coin also but it's most likely going for less than issue price.

@superhal: Never let price be the only deciding factor in your choice. You still have the coins, no? Do you still like them?
I think my greatest regret is buying junk silver. I don't enjoy it at all. Yes, I'm "up" in price, but really all I have a bunch of dirty coins. My collecting style has done a complete 180 in the last year.

There are periods when I detest having bought ANY coin. These times are normally at the end of each month when I'm struggling to come up with money to pay the house payment and car payment, as well as my Bill Me Later balances. I often wish I had all the money I've spent the past year on coins. This has been my first 'official' year of collecting; that is, the first year I started paying more than face value for coins.
When I first got started buying coins, a friend who's been in the hobby a long time told me it's an expensive hobby, as it costs a lot of money to buy money. :)

Don't try to sell it now because you will loose big time. If you look on ebay for the first one, some are sold below $80 CDN

I regret buying that Two Loons coin last year. Remember how hyped that coin was when it came out? Everyone had dreams of flipping them, and I got caught up in it. I'm not a big fan of coloured coins, but I bought one anyway. I still have it since I'd break even at best trying to sell it now, but I don't like it.
