Hi all. Is there a good website out there that is good for specifically identifying late Roman Radiate Crown stuff? I have been using tesorillo.com (thanks TIF) for my 4th C. stuff, but could use a similar site for the radiate stuff. Sorting my way through the next bag and there seems to be quite a few in there and instead of me posting loads I thought I would try and do a bit more myself. Below is a picture of my desk atm.. The wife is going to beat me soon!! The desk... Mainly identified ones... The next bag to do... And these I am totally lost on.... I've always found this site good for the Gallic Emperors but it wont cover all the radiates. http://www.gallic-empire.com/index.htmlThese spreadsheets have always been my favoured method of ID but they don't contain pictures so you will need to be able to identify to Emperor yourself. http://www.catbikes.ch/coinstuff/coins-ric.htmScroll down the page to a title that looks like it might help and click the hyperlink to download the spreadsheet. You might need some coaching if your new to them but they are invaluable once you pick them up. Are you primarily using legends or busts to ID? You look like you have some great coins EDIT - fixed a url

Whoa, nice desk! I don't have much experience with Romans (other than Guess The Emperor and Guess the God threads), but a popular ID help site is this one: http://www.catbikes.ch/coinstuff/coins-ric.htmTook me a while to realize this was the "Helvetica" site everyone talks about since the URL is 'catbikes'. Anyway, it has some very helpful albeit specific spreadsheets. On the page I linked be sure to scroll down. I must've gone to that page 5 times before I scrolled down and saw the important stuff. The various spreadsheets have to be downloaded. They contain astonishing amounts of information and are a great way to find your coin.

That is a brilliant site! Will save me a lot of time, thank you both very much!! BH, I was using the reverse on the later ones to cut down the emperor to within 3 or so then I used a mixture of the bust and obverse lettering, and when all else failed I just posted them here lol.

Not my finds these ones. This lot I swapped for 25kg of English copper coins, old halfpennies and pennies. I have found a fair amount over the years but since joining this forum my interest in them has started to become an obsession!!

You could do with one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roman-Emper...em2a32cbb41eOnly other thing I can think of is to maybe sort all alike busts into piles of different Emperors, could possibly save you some time. I'm sure you already know about Wildwinds, its pictures can be a great help when your starting out. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/...us_II/t.htmlThe GENIO POPVLI ROMANI (large silvered coin in the middle of your second picture) looks quite nice, wouldn't happen to be a lyons issue would it? EDIT - again urls! nothing seems to want to work today!

Nice hoard you have to ID. Most of the coins in you last photo are Byzantine.

Quote: erm .... lyons issue? I collect certain ones, its like turrets, I can't help but ask It would have no mintmark on the back but a style reflecting those that came from Lyons in France. This explains it better: http://www.ebay.com/gds/Constantius...29949/g.html

Your coin looks to be from either Aquileia or Rome but some of the mintmark seems to be missing. I would guess Aquileia and the mark should read AQP or AQS.
