Can anyone tell me what the value on such a coin would be? I might be in a position to acquire one.
Thanks in advance

SP 62, 63, 64, 65, or higher would play a big roll in the estimated value...a pic would also be extra nice too....

Yes it would I realize. I do not have possession of it at the moment but I will try to take some when I go to see it again.

Charlton 2013 gives SP 63 $2500 and SP65 $6000 for the reeded edge variety and SP63 $2000 and SP65 $6500 for the plain edge variety. These are just guidelines of course. Personally, for a coin like this, I would want to see it professionally graded before finalizing the deal.

Thanks kuh_85. I was thinking about that, but I trust the source. I have seen and held the coin and it is beautifully toned on one side and on the other, it has the unmistakable mirror finish on the fields. I will post pictures when I have them to post. I will be picking up a beautiful lot of 33 coins from him tomorrow or Wednesday, but it doesn't include the 58. There is an 1872 50 cent piece in the group so I'm pretty stoked. I think most will be available in my ebay store once I go through them. I have a nice Russian 1897 7 ruble gold coin up for auction at the moment as well.

The difference between a 63 & 65 is 3500.. and you're willing to take the seller's word?
I think if you are to make such a purchase... you yourself must have some very good grading skills... unless of course the seller is giving you such a good price (like for a 58) that it doesn't matter if it's a 63 or 65..
For me personally that's a large chunk of change.... I would rather have it graded.. or some sort of promisary note or contract in the event that it comes back in a lower grade.

The seller is not assigning a grade. I am not buying it as graded. And yes, I will be buying it undervalued. Thanks for the sound advice though, AG. This really is a stunner, and to be able to obtain it is a thrill for me. Having it graded and it coming back a 60 or a 63 would be the perfect ending. If not, it is still a beauty and I will still be happy with it.
