Remember when US Proof Sets only had 5 coins in them? Or when US Mint Sets only had 10 coins in them? Times were simpler back then. Was going through a few coins tonight and I was admiring the simplicity of the 1990 proof set I have, it's the only proof set I have actually. Just 5 coins...doesn't make my head hurt. Sets were fairly easy to keep up with then as they didn't break the bank. Now the sets are bloated with junk with a bloated price. The best deal for me now is just to get the individual coins I want rather than paying for a set with a bunch of coins I don't want. OK, my rant is over...

To keep my collection current, its easier for me to get a mint set to pull coins for my albums.

WOW, that is so true. I too USED to always order Proof sets for the coins for my Albums. Also, a pile for Cristmas presents. Then they started with all the STUFF most don't want and the price also is what most don't want. Sure wish the Mint would make a Proof set with just one each of the major coins like way, way back.

I agree...further I feel the Prez dollars should not be issued with the regular proof set. I believe they are already in a set of their own anyways. But I'd keep the Sac dollar included. As for the quarters, I think they should continue to strike the eagle reverse alongside the commemorative quarters then include the eagle quarter in the set and keep the commemorative quarters in their separate set.

It would be nice if the Mint allowed one order the different parts of the sets à la carte.

If would also be nice if I could by a combination clad and silver set to avoid having duplicates from buying the two separately.

Ill go a step further and say itd be nicer if the silver set was actually all silver. Just leave the clad out if they wont make a silver versions of those.
