I found a Jackson Dollar that is not brass color. It seems to be the same silver color as other clad coins. My gram scale shows 8 grams but it could be off a bit. The scan does not show the exact color of the coin. Any ideas? Maybe someone plated it?

The edge is the same color as the rest of the coin except for two very small spots that show copper. That is why I think it may be plated.

That's a very common feature on plated coins, especially ones given a quick'n'cheap plate job. They have to attach the wires for the electroplating somewhere, and when they break the wires off again, there are two small holes left behind in the plating.

It's one of those Home Shopping Network silver-plated "specials", I suspect.

The picture makes it look like the plating is wearing off on the lettering.

What about those eyes, kind of looks haunted!
