As part of my small silver bullion stack I have 2 2011 ASEs. Just today I noticed that they each have a different die axis. One is standard and the other is medal. Does the US Mint produce bullion in both alignments or is one of them an error?

Ok. In order to prove my point I'll need a video clip. I don't have a webcam. I'll have to ask my wife when I see her tomorrow. I assure you I have no reason to lie about this.

Nickel....I doubt anyone was questioning you...we just really like pics. especially of things one does not see very often. Use a mirror and take a pic so you can see both obv. and rev. this has been done well here in the past to show a rotated die.

Now I'm a little worried about the coin with the unusual die rotation. A) It is thicker than the "normal" one and has a smaller diameter. B) There seems to be less detail on the misaligned coin. C) The Axis rotation is a bit off (maybe 5-8 degrees).
Could it be a fake? This is disappointing as I bought them both at the LCS.

By thicker how much thicker do you mean? They have tolerance levels they should be within but different batches arent always identical since they arent pure silver and they make sure theres at least an ounce of silver in them.

That is why I requested pics, so we could tell for you, not because I doubted you. I have seen about 1000+ 2011 ASE's and have never seen a rotated die.

@ denco7: Sorry I didn't mean to be touchy. I guess I misread the smiley's expression. I'm going to try to get picks because I am becoming really interested in getting clues from people more experienced than myself. Unfortunately I'm not great with coin photography so as soon as I can get some good shots I'll post them. Please be patient it might take a few more days. I'll bunp the topic when I get them posted.

The banner holder is just coinstipated, nothing to do with you. Try getting a weight on the coin also.

Here are a few pics. I'm not good at coin photography and I couldn't figure out how to turn off the flash (not my camera), but at least you should be able to make out the alignment of the dies.

It sure is a rotated Die.
However We need a much clearer photos of the obverse and reverse to verify authenticity.
If real this will be very valuable.

I'll keep experimenting with photographing and if I get a better result I'll post.

Turn the flash off on the camera and that should help a lot with the glare
