Ok everyone, go easy on this poor thing. The story is pretty cool so I had to share it. I found this at a swap meet that was in a picked through lot of silver coins. I passed on it the first time and saw it again the next weekend and asked how much they wanted. A quarter! No way I could pass it up then. It wasn't until I got home did I realize what it was and the scarcity of this coin. Its beat up but it finally has a resting place in my collection. 1862 or 64 New Brunswick ten cents. 1862 mintage: 150,000 1864 mintage: 100,000

Ottoman Empire, 20 kurus, 1864 A pretty rare coin, but this one's in sad condition. It's quite big.

Civil war tokens were used as one cent coins during the war. So I think they fit into this thread. This is one of my favorites 1863 Flag/ If anyone attempts to tear it down Shoot him on the spot

Ten cents from the Netherlands for 1863. In Dutch, these small silvers used to be called 'dubbeltje' (a double), after their value in a predecimal currency unit: "2 stuiver".
