1951 Great Britain crown, commemorating the "Festival of Britain" exhibition: This was the last proper 5-shilling (25p) face value crown to bear the Pistrucci St George & the Dragon reverse, and the only cupro-nickel coin with this design.

Quote: Loving these coins you guys are posting. I agree .. I have not seen some of these coins. I really like that New Zealand shilling. Gives me a idea to see how many different type shillings I could get.

As long as no one objects to more North-o'-the-Border, here's my best 1951 sailboat. Tough to get a decent shot of this low contrast coin using my so called 'system'. Also, this thread is a stark reminder of how I really need to get better organized. CANADA 1951 10 cents; 0.800 silver; mintage= ~15 mil. :

Cool coin silveryears I was thinking you were going to post the 1951 Canada commemorative nickel. I almost got mine for a picture ... but I already had a pic of the half.

Well, I had just posted a Canada nickel. Was kind of looking for more silver. So yeah, with a nod to jbuck, here is a little asterisk to the rules to make up for the poor showing above. Sort of forgot I had this one. My numismatic goal for 2014 is to get organized. Every world silver collection needs one of these. Four heads for the price of one! There are both Dutch and French versions of this piece. 'Better in hand' as the saying goes. Melt tub find a couple of years ago. BELGIUM 1951 100 FRANCS; 0.835 silver; 33mm; mintage= ~4.6 mil. :

GDR, 50 pfennig, 1950A A very early East German coin, it's interesting how this piece of aluminum bronze only says "DEUTSCHLAND" on it. Later, of course, they would begin to say "DEUTSCHE DEMOKRATISCHE REPUBLIK". Found for 20 cents, catalog value is much higher

only 240000 struck. interestingly, the 1965 NZ penny which has only 200000 struck hasn't yet caught up.
