I have two tokens for 1933 from the Chicago World's Fair. The first features a series of good luck images including the swastika. The swastika was used frequently on trade tokens before the rise of the Nazis.  The second one was very difficult to photograph and features the fair grounds on Lake Michigan on the reverse. I haven't seen too many of these around.  |

It looks like 1933 is a sad year in my collection, meaning I don't have many from that year. My Walker is not very good looking and my mercury is just average. Of course Abe is always a good choice. 1933 Lincoln Cent  |

I see a couple of nice coins posted today.
I am curious. Do other members have a low number of 1933 coins?
I have many thousands of coins, I was surprised at the low number of 1933 dated coins I have.
Maybe this will be the start, when there will be years when not all members will have coins to post.

I'm pretty spotty myself, my only 1933 got pulled because it was a copy. Aside from some nice British and Canadian penny and cent and a few surprises here and there I'll not have much eye candy to post till the Peace's and Morgan's.  makes it more exciting, the anticipation, 1845, 1807, 1765, 1760... those will be the last ones I can post, and every one will be like Christmas to me  |

Swiss 5 Francs 1932:  Coins with this design were struck from 1922 to 1928 to the old Latin Monetary Union standard - 90% silver, 37mm in diameter and weighing 25g. From 1931 to 1967 the coin was struck as a regular circulating issue, with the weight reduced to 15g and the silver content to 83.5%. The metal content was changed to cupro-nickel in 1968, but, bizarrely, the 1969 issue was in silver! Cupro-nickel resumed from 1970. Although the silver coins were officially withdrawn in 1971, the odd one still turns up in circulation as the design is identical to current coins. About 15 years ago I was in a bank in Interlaken and saw someone bring in several silver 5F coins and change them: I asked the teller and was able to obtain them at face value. |
