This one looks like it may be worth grading...even with the high standard needed for this mintage.

what do you think?

4. Same as the other. Dip it for the flash. Luster is really important to break into the higher grades with silver dollars.

Never dipped a coin before, but these 23's are great candidates I suppose. I paid $25 each for them at the LCS...

I honestly would only drop them in for a fraction of a second and pull them out. Just long enough to get the haze off. If you haven't dipped coins before, experiment on some generic BU silver dimes, go buy a bunch of toned '64's and learn how to dip properly... make sure they aren't turning later by waiting a couple weeks to see if they start toning. If not, go for dipping one of the Peace dollars and see how it looks before deciding if you wanna dip the other.

Typically, with silver dollars, I use a 50% diluted dip, maybe for 2-3 seconds (dip time all depends on strength of the original solvent), then pull it, rinse in distilled water, pat dry, then it goes into acetone for at least 24h.

I'll go 64.

Do you dip with coin tongs? Does the place where the coin is being held dip ok or do you have to rotate for a second quick dip?
