Hi, I got this Canadian dime and can't seem to find anything online about it. The date appears to be 1998 and the coin has no reeded edge. Is it an error? I would also like to know if it is worth anything.

It looks like a Washer coin. Stuck in an industrial washer, all the bouncing and banging causes soft features and will start to round the edges.

Believe it or not, there are people who collect these, for the novelty factor. The coins aren't worth any great deal, but some collectors like to get as many dates as they can. You never know -- flip it on ebay and you might make a buck or two. Call it a Dryer Coin (as Joseph and chequer have) and you should get a few hits.

Seen the same in Australian coins, everything is a collectable, ties, toothpaste, dirt etc.
