Hello Everyone, I was wondering if anyone has seen these and do you think there will be a market for them one day? My daughter served in Afghanistan and saved a bunch of these pogs for me. The military used these instead of coins because of the weight issue and many other reasons. There are hundreds of different pictures. Some have comic book images on them, some move and show two pictures you move the pog to see the image change. They also have historic pictures on some of them too? Please let me know what you think.

There has always been a market for military related items. There is a boring set for sale on ebay today - http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-AAFES-Gif...291006646874

Will it sell? Who knows... Will you get rich from them? Probably not.

Is it a cool piece of history? You bet. Someday your daughter might want to pass a set on to the next generation with some of her stories...

And, please thank her for her service from us!

Yes please thank her for her service. And yes there is a market and a collectors base fro the mil scrips that were used in the clubs and base stores. There is at least one book on them probably doesn't include the current and recent issues. I'm at a loss for the name of the guy that wrote.

They would fall into the area of good for or trade tokens. As been said you won't get rich but there is a market for them.

I had no idea why you called them POGS, so I googled the term
"The Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the United States Department of Defense's largest and oldest exchange system, distributes pog-like coinage as change at its stores in contingency areas (those supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom). The reason for adopting pogs as currency was that supply flights overseas had limited capacity and air-freight shipping involved high costs. Metal coinage weighs significantly more than paper pogs, which are also much thinner than standard pogs. While they are only issued in contingency areas, they are redeemable at any AAFES store worldwide"

They have some really nice ones, they change pictures, some are high gloss, I like some of the Historic pictures on some. I have a few military script from WWII and I enjoy collecting them. I believe that is the most important anyway, making a buck here and there is nice too. Thanks for sharing your comments.

Hey Guys and Gals ... It was great reading all the posts regarding POGS. The Pogs have become more popular with collectors. I have been trying to complete 3 sets , 1 each for my daughters.. Loads of history depicted on these pogs.. The Game of POG orginated in the 1920's on the island of Maui in Hawaii. The diary workers played the game during breaks using simple milk caps. The Haleakala Diary on Maui introduced a new Fruit drink called Passion Orange Guava juice and advertised it on the milkcap inserts as POG .... Now you know the rest of the story ! There is 15 different Printings of pogs dating from 2001 till 2011 .. over 497 different POGS .. if you have more interest, drop mea note and I can share some other cool facts and figures on the POGS ... Thanks for the read. Tracy
