I just have a few questions about this one. It has some lines by the fish and in the water. There are also places that are very shiny. One place is by this fish and the mountain, the other is in the water. They show up more as shadowy looking in the pictures. Every time I used a light source it would reflect off of these areas so I had to dim the light a little. They are shown on the last two pictures. Would like to know what the cause of this is. Also, the area that is shiny in the sky is dented in a little. Thanks for your time.

The lines are from a die polishing to remove a clash mark. Here is an overlay:

When the clash marks are transferred to the opposite dies, they polish the dies to remove the clash marks. The fields are the outside of the die. The outlines of the some of the devices are transferred because there is no planchet between the dies.

In the last image you can see where water/oil/grease prevented the die from shaping that area. These are common and not a premium attacked for these. Sorry

That's okay. Not really worried to much about a premium. I just really enjoy learning about these things. :) Thanks!

You are like me. I always wanted to know what caused an event to the die/coins. The guy that taught me was a yes or no person and rarely explained to me what I had found. He would tell me if it was a variety or not. If not, then he had me move on. But I always want to know more and the answer what caused this. Images seem to be the best answer to questions so they help me best on the forums to answer questions and the DVD helps those who may not have asked/read about such a question yet.

This anomaly is quite common, but I do not think they are polishing marks used to erase a clash. IMO, it would not make sense to add a larger, and more noticeable defect in order to remove something that is so minor.

To me, they look like feeder finger scrapes, or even some other type of die gouge. They are too big to be die polishing marks IMO. Especially when one looks at die polishing marks from coins decades earlier, they are much smaller and less noticeable than what is seen on this coin.

The last two photos show something totally different. These photos show a minor struck through error, grease or other.
