Maybe it is my imagination when I was looking at this 1979 quarter, but the letters in "CANADA" and the "elks antlers" seem to be so close to the edge...Is this normal for this year?...See picture below.

What does the other side look like? It may be a MAD.

I think the reverse's where modified for beads a long time ago. I have a 1979 and 2010 right here and they're the same as yours.

From what I just read in my Charlton 66th - the penny, nickel, dime and quarter underwent a transition beginning in 1982 and ending in 1993. The purpose was to modify all the coins (front and back)to properly fit with in its parameters.
Meaning the Caribou has been modified. If I got this wrong some one correct it please.

I am no pro but it looks like the die struck the planchet a little high and to the right in your last pic so I think it may be a off center planchet and not a MAD.What does the edge look like?
