Can anyone identify this as a medal or a coin...There is no country associated with it..Makes me think it is a medal..?

It is a UK 25p Crown. CuNi, I believe issued as a commem. just after Churchill died in 1965. Very common.

Yes... British coins almost never say which country they're from.

So... if it has a British monarch, and no country is specified, it's the UK. All the colonies' coins are named (Canada, Australia, South Africa, Cyprus, etc.) on the coins themselves.

That's quite a good pointer for new collectors. Generally it's fairly standard to assume that a coin with Winston on one side and the Queen of England on the other is English but you never know! The Canadian mint may have got in there at some point, but if they had then it would be pure silver surely.
