Okay, so I have 3 Coins in which I have been looking over since coming across this website! Any answers/information will be much appreciated since I've only been doing this for about a year now! I have attatched pictures of each of the following: First, I have a 1921D Morgan silver dollar w/ what I believe (after reviewing the provided images on site) to be DIE POLISHING around the eye & also notice that the STRIKING is off center(both OBV/REV)..(Wing tips are located really close to letters S & A (instead of being centered b/t letters D,S,F,A). Not sure if mint marking is centered or not. Next, is my 1923 SILVER Peace dollar (NO MM). I noticed 3 places (within close proximity to each other (obverse)) consistent with the description of DIE POLISHING on this coin. One marking on the nostril of the nose and the other 2 located on the cheek. Did not notice anything wrong w/ REVERSE. Finally, I have an 1882S Morgan silver dollar. OBVERSE, in my opinion, shows favorable traits of the HAIR POLISHED AWAY. Looks very similar to images provided on site. As for REVERSE, the TAIL FEATHER LOOKS CONSIDERABLY OVER POLISHED, especially next to 1921D Morgan dollar. So, with all that being said, was I at least right on one of them? Again, I am open to any knowledge/information any one of you are able to give me! Also, What would you grade each one of these coins at individually? W/OUT CERT. of AUTH.? W/ CERT. of AUTH.?

One more thing...the marks on the '21 PD are not black and are not dents whatsoever. The coin is very brilliant in color, I just wanted to capture the markings in the image so that you would be able to see what I was referencing to.

Using all caps in a post is yelling. Caps can be used as emphasis, but please do not post in all caps.
To me, the 1921 doesn't look real.

Or it could just be the heavy polishing that all of the coins have. This would lower their value significantly.

Someone used silver polish or buffed the 1921 and 1923, this is not good. About $20 for each. The 82-S may be worth a couple dollars more if not polished.

Yes, you definitely got the "polishing" part right. All are circulated, anyway, meaning they didn't have a lot of extra numismatic value, but the polishing destroyed whatever extra value they might have originally had. As far as what you'd call "die polishing," that occurs on such a small scale that it likely wouldn't be visible in images this size. Here's a fairly extreme example: All those fine vertical striations you can see are die polishing.

If you were trying to sell those three polished dollars at a local store here, they would offer you $16 to $18 each for them. Because they have been polished.

@Fuzzy317: Sorry, I type in caps whenever I'm excited or when using a particular name in reference to something :/ I will be more cautious when typing here. @NoahsNumismatics;@1893S; Hmmm?..I'm not so sure they have ever been cleaned, buffed, and/or polished.. my grandmother has had them sitting in her bedroom closet for over 40 years w/out touching them before giving me her collection this past weekend. . I've seen coins that have been cleaned before and these don't appear to have any of those signs. Although none of them are graded, all of these coins have certificates of authenticity, which certify they were indeed Struck by the United States Mint and are authentic U.S. currency. The only one I do not have a cert for is the 1882S MD.

Your grandma may not have polished them but someone did at some point. Unless the light and your camera are playing tricks in the pictures theyre just way to shiny.

Quote: I'm not so sure they have ever been cleaned, buffed, and/or polished.. Then this is a good time to learn about it, because the 1921 and 1923 are as plain as day. Nobody who's ever seen a polished coin before would mistake what's happened to them.

Unfortunately the '21 & '23 have definitely been polished... Possibly the '82 as well, hard to tell for certain from the pics, but it kinda looks it. Maybe not by your gram but definitely at some point before she got them then. Being there circulated its not as big of a deal as they wouldn't be worth much over melt anyways.. But being polished maybe $23-$25 each private sale, less at a dealer.
Still nice coins as a heirloom from gram..

@1893S: Gotchya.. Idk what I said wrong to make you so assertive towards me. I posted this message in order to get other people's opinions about these coins because I wanted to know more about them. I got it now. They have been polished. Thanks.

@Basebal21;@NathanASE; All the silver coins she has are all in velvet cases and/or hard-back display cases & are sealed shut (I actually broke one earlier when getting the 1921D & 1923 out to look at them)! So, you're probably right in that they were cleaned/polished before she had received them. At least they're real though. And yes, she gave me a lot to remember her by!
