I am speculating... they assemble so many at a time, and keep doing this while heavy demand exists. Once the orders slow down, they probably stop making more sets and just wait to run out.

I tend to agree with jbuck's assessment.
Demand hasn't been great for the set - the Mint has sold just over 10,000 of the sets so far. I would hazard a guess and suggest the final mintage for the set will be in the 18,000 to 25,000 range.

18k would shock me....they would have to be on sale for a couple of years to get up to that number but maybe they will be like the $1 coin cover and be on sale forever....

They will run out eventually. The question is how many have they made in advance, and how many remain.
Roosevelt was a good president and this is a fine set to have if you are a fan.
I mentioned before, I like this set more every time I look at it.

Mine should be here by the end of the month, and then I'm sure I'll join you in your exuberance, jbuck. But back to the question, all we know is what they've already sold. Other than that we're just making educated guesses as to what the final number will be. Let's hope they stop selling it soon. Although like most of my collection, I never intend to sell, so it wouldn't really matter but might help me get a loan some day.

I'm curious about the production runs as well. Seeing as mine didn't ship with the rest of my order, there weren't any in stock on 4/30. So at least two production runs already? Does anybody have an educated guess on how many they press / package at a time for inventory? Sometimes I imagine a secret vault somewhere with stacks of over-run coins kept as a time capsule.

I predict this set will sell out around 12,500. If it lasts till the end on the year, the Mint will discontinue it on 12/31/2014 along with other 2014 commemoratives.

I have a tracking number now. Looking forward to seeing this set in person, what with all the hype!

JBuck - Yes I am aware this is a 2013 set. It was released in December 2013, however it took till March 2014 for the Mint to start ship out the TR-C&C set.

I wouldn't be surprised if the mint stops selling the Roosevelt set early like last year's platinum eagle.

Well, I received mine today, and it's a very nice set. The coins and packaging are really nice. However all 8 corners of the "book" are dinged to varying degrees from shipping, so I'm debating whether or not to send these back (along with my debate on whether to send my 2 silver proof sets back).
