Hi all. I joined this forum just because of this particular quarter, and I have no idea what's going on with it. At first I just wanted to see if it would be worth something more than a few french fries, and now I'm also interested in what could have caused it.

Both sides of the quarter have a deep pit (the back side shows multiple smaller pits as well). On the opposite sides of the quarter (beneath those pits), the material seems to bulge outward.

I don't know anything about coin errors, but I also haven't seen any pictures of anything similar. Here are pics of the front and back. Any ideas? Thanks.

not an error...it's damage to the coin done after the coin left the mint.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and thanks for responding.

I was sure hoping that that coin would be something cool and valuable (only because I'd never seen or noticed anything like that before), but I guess I can settle with spending it on those french fries. I'll be sure to send in more pics/scans if anything else cool comes my way.
