I know very little about American coins as my background is in ancient and medieval coins. However, if I were to grade your coin using the grading standards used in ancients, I would have to call it Fine or perhaps Good Fine, and then wax poetic about what a lovely piece it is (which it truly is!)... This just illustrates the point that there are so many grading 'standards' now that there really is no standard. Even the TPG services aren't consistent from day to day, which of course is why we have such unusual (but understandable) phenomenon as the professional coin re-slabber...

That is one very nice coin.

Thank you all for taking a look!

Speaking of different grading standards...do you think an EAC grader would grade it VF?

Without a doubt.
More than likely VF20-25

I almost went EF40 but since I've joined the EAC and have been trying to adhere more to their grading standards I leaned towards the lower end of my thoughts on the grade. I can certainly see this as a market acceptable EF coin, it sure is a beauty!

30 bumped to 40 for great surfaces and a nice planchet, imho.

EDIT: See grade was posted, wow, wasn't expecting to be right.

I entertained the possibility of EF but just thought that there maybe was too much wear but I don't quite know the series well enough to know how sharp and nice they come. My guess before the reveal was going to be VF-30. The surfaces are fantastic.

Prime example of market grading, not real grading. :) Those surfaces will draw a nice premium and hence it being graded XF instead of VF.

Congratulations That's a beautiful coin. I have no skills in grading Fugios so I'm happy to just admire it and drool
