For single ones a local shop is probably cheaper when shipping is factored in but deals can be found online. For large orders though theres several sites that sell them cheaper than most local stores would

I would only be buying two at a time.

Two at a time youre most likely better off at a local shop depending what they charge around you. Theyre kind of high on ebay and without any specials running the shipping cost will eat up any savings from the big online sellers for that amount.

I buy them from a member of our sight, usually one a year.

Locally, your best bets would be Scotsman Coin and Jewelry(Olive and 270), Missouri Coin Company(Manchester and 270), and Midwest Money(Hampton and Holly Hills in South St Louis).

In CA, one is charged with sales tax for sales less than $1400. Living in CA, I tried a LCS and they charged me $4 over spot + 9.5% sales tax. I do my best not to buy from CA vendors. There are a few online coin shops that I like to use. They have sales frequently, usually with free shipping included. You can also find good deals on ebay if you don't get caught up in a bidding war with somebody.

I just joined the forum. Been checking this place out for a couple weeks and wanted to respond to this question because I have been collecting slabbed Silver Eagles recently. I have been buying from Silvertowne.com and mintproducts.com for these slabbed eagles. Silvertowne has no shipping charges till the end of this month and mint products has a low $2.99 charge on items less than $75.

I pick my Eagles up from the local bullion dealer at the monthly coin club meetings.
Cash and no tax or shipping (WI charges tax on bullion and coin purchases before anyone brings that argument up)

If you are not stuck on buying just silver eagles, silvertowne often has free shipping on foreign silver (Canadian maples, philharmonics, etc..)

I bought mine last year at the F.U.N. show in January. If they have been released and some are there, I will probably pick one up at the upcoming F.U.N. show
