its graded as MS64FB - The bands are full and distinct, the obverse has no scuffs, nicks, scratches etc. I am trying to find a comparable on ebay to figure out how much to post it for

For me, that kind of toning has a negative eye appeal. If the obverse was white it would probably have gained a point or two. nlp
Rest in Peace

what a shame. probably would grade at MS65 FSB details. looks like the coin was improperly stored at one time.

Look on ha and tele trade for price comparisons. It seems avg. ms64 FB this year is around $150 on auctions. Chances of your coin selling on a BIN OBO on the bay are slim to none unless you offer it under price guides. Auction ebay is your best bet, no reserve and you could see $120 IMO.

As far as eye appeal, it will not attract as many as a blast white or colorful toner would. I know this all reads negative but its probably the reality of the market especially on ebay

It wouldn't affect the technical grade but really it would still be negative eye appeal and will affect the price. It also means that the grader may have tried to grade it technically but the toning has caused him to undergrade it. That said I agree with the grade on this one.

Boderline terminal toning, I wouldn't mess with it if it's been stabilized. Shame. If it affects the luster, it affects the grade, since grades on Mercs are highly dependent on luster.

It looks like an MS-65 to me... still a nice coin though.
