Appears to be a scratch on the die. Neat find.

It is a gas bubble trail.

That's very interesting,a straight bubble trail. So, when this coin was struck, pressure under the lamination was forced out in a straight line?

Not sure if the gas is trapped at the time of minting or if it develops later.

Those plated pennies are full of gas trail/lines like this. Yours, however, with that nice long one running across almost the whole face of it is nice. I'd keep it for sure.

Had me fooled for a bit though, I thought at first it was a die crack, but yes, I have other pennies with varying degrees of these gas bubbles.Would this be considered an error? If so, a very common one indeed.
