I just called to return two of my coins from the Royal Canadian Mint ( 2012 gold Bluenose and the 2012 Specimen set). With almost no questions. they told me that they were going to send two brand new coins as soon as possible and that I could keep the old ones! Wow! Is anyone else impressed with their customer service.

Congrats on your good fortune with the mint. It's very nice to hear, it balances out our frequent comments of experiencing subpar service. It also saves you the hassle of packing and shipping. Maybe it's the mints Christmas gesture. Thanks for sharing a positive interaction with the mint.

So this begs the question, just how many sets does the RCM retain, to deal with exchanges that can occur later down the road?

Sorry if I missed something but what was the reason for the returns in the first place? Were they defective in some way?

Why did the OP return the coins? Were they defective? And was it before the one year deadline for the returning of defective coins?

He must be pretty lucky because I had to return my defective coin and pay the return postage.

I can't understand why the Mint let him keep the coins since that is not official policy. One rule should apply to everyone because it is not fair to others who return coins.

MoneyPenney, RCM should reimburse return shipping on returning defective coins.
