SO I actually got this 2003 P Kennedy half in a roll. It appears to be BU beneath the paint. I would have tossed it back had it not been a NIFC (not intended for circulation) issue. But what should I do with this coin? Just keep it as it is as an example of a quirky alteration, or should I try to remove the paint? Would Acetone do the trick for removing it? Don't bother ruining the coin trying to restore it. I would just keep it.

I've used acetone on these before and it takes all the paint off. As long as your aren't scrubbing you won't even know it was altered after it is done.

Well, it's tough. I would keep it in the sticker, because it can be effectively removed any time anyway, and with the sticker on I would say it's more interesting than your typical NIFC Kennedy.

This could be a rare of example of when cleaning a coin could INcrease its value! ;) as it is, with the pathetic NFL paint on it, its worthless junk.. if you clean off the paint, it will be worth 50 cents! :) a 50-fold increase in value..
I would definitely try to remove the paint..I feel sorry for the coin.. it shouldn't have to take such indignities..

Considering the fact that it's a cowboys coin, I would throw it in the ocean.

I had to spend a few moments recovering from that one before I could type. Acetone will make the paint go away completely and undetectably. That's what acetone is for. With that said, I'd keep it as-is. This isn't a coin of huge intrinsic value, and the graphic is a quirky extra which increases its' interest to me. You can always change your mind the other way, down the road, but if you erase the paint you can't ever get it back.

Friendly banter aside, I agree with the acetone bath. That Kennedy deserves a better life. I just realized... Kennedy probably pulled for the Patriots...

I'd say keep it. Something is better than nothing.

I think it's better having the paint on it.
Put it inside a 2x2 and save it. Kennedy's are worth face value. They're made only for collectors.
