Looks like the real deal to me. I'll leave it to someone else to find the correct attribution, as I'm bad with that stuff.

I am guessing it is the EDS of WDDO-003

Check and see if the die markers match your coin.

Here is a link to all of them listed. http://www.coppercoins.com/diesearch.php

let me make a statement up front. The 1972 year was riddled with errors of the master die. All mintmarks and proofs were affected. There are many that look like DDO's but are not. Over 3 billion pennies were minted that year, and well over 60% of them were affected by the issue.

The 1972 you have is a tough call. Here is what I am seeing
- the date looks thicker, like it should be for a DDO, but due to the lighting its tough to tell for sure.
- TRUST has promise, but again, lighting is a little over powering. I am trying to tell if both "T's" have double legs. IF that's the case, and the lesser strike is to the CCW direction, then you have a DDO, Die #3.

Also look to see if the "L" in LIBERTY...or more letters are clearly doubled...the "L" should appear as two lower portions of the "L", like two bottom feet, basically one stacked up on top of each other. The other letters may have a slightly wider separation.

Take a look at these examples in this post. I have over 42 of these, and I will show you pics if you need further clarification

EDIT:

Here is a quick pic of the LIBERTY area to compare;

I also think you have die 003, but the LDS. I think I see the die scratches inside the loop of the 9. Check this out:

I agree 003. Why? Something I just noticed:
On the "2" in the date, note the differences between the 003 & 008:
A-1972-DDO?
Note how the 003 swells in the center of the horizontal lower loop. The 008 is straight, the 003 is bulged in the center. Learn something new all the time.

Hopefully you find the 004 in one of your rolls. Then you will really be happy! I know I would be!! http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=eds

Congrats on your first find. Can you tell what die state it is? EDS, MDS or LDS?

I don't think anyone would rather have a 001 over a 004. 004 is worth 5x that of a ddo-001

Why are the prices like this? Is it just due to rarity? I would rather have the 001 only because I probably would not sell either one. The first doubled die I found was a Wyoming State Quarter DDR. I put it on ebay and it sold for $0.25. Needless to say, I have still not found another one. I would have to find 2 before I would sell one.
