I found this 1960 dime in one of my proof sets the other day. I'm pretty sure it is a DDR-001. There also appears to be some short trails going westward off of the E in E-PLURIBUS. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Chris

it Looks like the doubling goes in one direction on most devices. I am sure Coop will chime in and ask;
"Are the devices enlarged or reduced?".

if the letters look like some of it has been scraped away, leaving a lower shelf or ledge looking area, it could be Machine Doubling or ejection doubing. This monitor isn't the best for viewing coins that have been shot with low lighting, and with this being a proof, it can be a demanding task. the surfaces can act like a dark black and either absorb all the light or simply blast it all back at you.

Coop not too long ago put up a post of proofs with Machine Doubling.....

Another good site to see the differences in Doubled Die Obverse ( DDO) and Doubled Die Reverse ( DDR) and how Machine Doubling can look close is here;

Hope this helps ID the coin.

The EPU looks very much like a doubled die. I do not have any reference on dimes so I can not say if it is an 001 or not.
