Usually there are two a year but I have not heard of a second.

There will be two. In addition to the Baseball Hall of Fame coins, there will be a silver dollar marking the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Not to mention it will be the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy half dollar. I wouldn't be surprised if they have came out with some type of special issue.

Its gonna be curved a bit. Can something like this fit in TPG holders?

Im sure theyll figure something out for them if the curve is extreme. You might have to pay for a special slab though

Not interested in the baseball coin or the Civil Rights coin.
Kennedy Set might be of interest to me.

Unfortunately, it is too late to have anything related to Kennedy design wise.
I still think 2017 is the best year to do a proper Kennedy commemorative.

yotie - in the context of the Kennedy half - it is not a commemorative but a regular issue coin. Granted it has moved into the non-circulating realm, but the mint has license to issue them yearly. I do believe they plan on doing a special release next year - possibly multi-coin sets - based on some of the surveys that people received. Those wouldn't affect the commemorative releases in anyway - perhaps they would be a commemorative release in and of themselves - but not a coin that requires Congressional approval like a traditional comemorative does.

Quote: But didn't they do that when they made the 1964 Kennedy half dollar? I should have been a bit clearer. I was referring to commemorating the anniversary of death. Not saying it is wrong, I just find it a bit creepy.

Commemorating the anniversary of death should have this year 1963-2013.

The dollar coin for Kennedy is scheduled to the be third one for 2015. Maybe they are thinking of doing something like they did for Theodore Roosevelt (disappointed that his set only has 1 coin in it).
They will have already struck a Proof President Dollar and a Silver Proof Half Dollar.
