Looks like just your average 2000-P Sacagawea business strike..
There were 767,140,000 minted in 2000 at the Philadelphia mint alone.
(The Eagle is very cool, one of the better ones on a coin IMHO).

(Edited to add better image..)

Ahhh but look closer.. On this one there is a die gouge on the reverse across the Eagle's belly that makes it look like it was speared:

(Images from an ANACS MS64 example.)

...

From PCGS Coinfacts:

Ron Guth: The 2000-P "Wounded Eagle" Sacagawea dollar is so-named because of a raised die flaw that cuts across the eagle's belly (see the attribution image above). As of January 2012, this variety remains elusive, with PCGS showing a population of 115 examples in all grades. As more collectors examine their coins, the population may rise, or this could turn out to be a very scarce variety. Time will tell.

The vast majority of the known examples are Mint State, usually in MS-64 to MS-66. The finest examples are five PCGS MS67s.

...

So check those 2000-P Sacagawea's.. AU wounded eagles currently bring $200.+ and MS63-65 bring $300-500.+ USD.

They're out there..

Post a pic if you have one!

On occasion I'll see a circulated example go pretty cheap on the bay, keep your eyes open.

I may have came across one of these in my coins I've had since a kid. Do I find a local appraiser and see what they think?

After scanning it in, I don't think it matches. Probably just a scratch near the same area.

Well I have about 8 or so of these dollar coins and they were in an envelope with other coins. And with moving a few times and they are circulation ones.

I have like 22 dollars worth of Kennedy half dollars, two ben franklins that are silver, and some whole dollar coins. My grandpa use to give them to me each month. I also have a 1922 liberty peace coin. Maybe with all those dinging each other up?

two little die gouges was most likely not enough of a issue to change die or destroy it.

I came across this gem of an ebay listing today, offering a so-called wounded eagle for a starting bid of $1, but there's a reserve because the seller believes he has the find of a lifetime.

It turns out that not only is the eagle on the reverse of the coin wounded by an "arrow," but poor Sacagawea and her baby have also been mortally wounded by an onslaught of arrows! Oh, the humanity!

Here's the seller's hilarious description, typos and all:

Quote:
Year 2000 wounded eagle and appears to be cheerio.most of the arrows or what appear to be arrows are stuck in her .one coming out the corner of her mouth.one coming intovher right shoulder .and worst of all a few in the babys head n face.now 3 going into his chest 2 making a exit .one small one going into his neck out his top nose, eye.and several small ones going into both right and left wings.very rare seeing so many alleged arrows especially into the woman and child.
