Okay so I just won this Morgan and here are the ebay pictures. The winning bid was $310, I think I might of got a pretty good deal, if not at least decent. Curious to know what you guys would grade it as from these crappy pictures. Edited by nofaction1 12/15/2013 01:13 am

63PL / 62DMPL. Is that a stain on the liberty?

You got me, I wont see this thing in hand for another 6 months. I work in kuwait. But I'm trying to get 4-5 more raw 1882 cc before I send them in to get graded. Taken me almost a year and now I have 3. lol

63, Hard to say whether it would be PL or DMPL based on the pictures.

MS63PL - I too, can't tell the amount of PL or DMPL from the photos.

I'm gonna be the buzz kill. This is not the place to shop if you're not going to see the coin for 6 months. The auction pictures are scans, not high res. photos and the reserve prices are high in my opinion. This seller peddles a lot of AU coins as Gem BU apparently to buyers that don't know how to grade. I don't even bother with any of this guy's auctions and everyone who reads this shouldn't.
I hope this comes back at least MS63PL for your sake.

Quote: MS64PL. Obverse doesn't look DMPL I thought a coin couldn't get a DMPL or even a PL attribute unless BOTH sides qualified. In this case based on the images neither attribute would be appropriate. As for the grade I think there are too many marks on the cheek; at best -63.

MS-63 semi proof-like. This one should sell in the $225 range.

After purchasing a DMPL raw, off the Bay, I will never do it ever again, you need to see them in hand, cause any little hairlines your going to get a details grade

You took a very_big_chance with this coin, and I hope you didn't just throw $100+ away on it. It's possible to draw certain conclusions from scans about a coin's surface, and the uniformly-dark appearance of the fields on this coin indicate a pretty good chance of PL surfaces. It helps that 1882-CC has a high incidence of PL & DMPL examples, but their commonality also lessens the price for them. You're going to need 64PL to justify the price you paid.
My very tentative opinion is that you have a good chance at the grade needed.

Well regardless of the grade it will get graded, more so because I believe in preserving history. Its managed to survive in near mint state until the present time. I think it's my responsibility to ensure it stays that way. lol
