On ProxiBid a cute off center strike. I am not in the running on this one:

1883-O-Morgan-Off-Center---What-Will-It-Sell-For?

https://www.proxibid.com/asp/LotDet...1229&rfpb=0#

Any guesses on where this will end?

Proxibid? Half a million dollars or so.

Off-center Morgans are extremely rare, especially considering their huge mintages. Even though this one is less than 5% off-center, since the denticles are all still intact, it's still going to hammer at multiples of "normal" value.

Nice Coin.

The auction description is giving a $1,900-$2,000 estimate.

5% off center .... My guess at auction would be around 2K$. There are plenty of collectors that need a Morgan error so if two of them got into a race it could be interesting to the finish line. Any Morgan error is tough.

Really needs to be slabbed to bring max money at auction, though.

Nice coin!

I think it's worth between $1200-$1600 but I'm sure it will go for much, much more, probably closer to $2-$3K range. I agree with wanting this in a slab. There are a lot of really good fakes out there made with similar or exact processes that the mint used/uses. Not to hard to make a fake for them.

UPDATE...
I just searched for the auction and found it - it is being sold by Silvertowne, so I'm calling it real and not a fake, Leon Hendrickson (owner) has dealt with more Morgan dollars than all of us here on CCF have probably ever handled collectively. He is a giant in the Morgan dollar dealer world, having handled the Continental Bank Hoard as well as thousands upon thousands of bags of Morgans. If he says it's real and from his inventory that is good enough for me don't care about a slab now.

Appears to be a slightly uncentered broadstrike not an off-center. It is not an off-center until part of the design in missing.

Thanks Conder, I did not realize part of the design needed to be missing to be considered off-center. Interesting!

Hammer price: $1550. Before live bidding started it was at $280. Looks like CCF was on target again !
