Not too familiar with IHC's. Paid $10 for it for the heck of it. Now that I go it home, it looks to have been cleaned. Like I said, took a shot in the dark and if it's cleaned, it'll be an example of what to look out for on IHC's.

EF details, cleaned and environment damage. Sorry, but you could have gotten a nice EF without problems for that price.

Thanks. I'm not into IHC's so this was a $10 lesson on cleaned IHC's and just another learning lesson on what NOT to buy!

The 1906 is a very common date IHC (over 96 million minted-2nd highest for the whole series). I agree that for $10 you could have gotten a lot nicer, problem free coin. But, like you said, you now know what a cleaned IHC looks like. Lesson learned.

Better a $10 lesson than a hundred dollar mistake.
WheatBack, you are taking this in stride and I salute you.
You will be a more discerning buyer of Indian Head cents in the future.

We all have these stories. That is how we learn. Might make a neat thread, le$$ons we have learned along the way.
Rest in Peace

FWIW, I think it has AU details. Undeniably harshly cleaned/polished. Color looks more gold than copper.

I suppose it was a mistake to buy this for $10, but like you said, a good leason learned and a good piece to have. It might be AU details, but I'd go with high XF details. I would also, unfortunately, go with "extremely cleaned" and ugly "environmental damage." Despite the details, I don't see this having a whole lot of value because anyone can afford a nicer original, so nobody would really want this.

feather tips, lower hair curls, diamonds are all worn too much to make it AU details. So, EF details.
