This Crown sized coin weighs 24.1g and is Silver.
Any ideas about this particular coin?

The clue is in the lion's toys. In particular, the bundle of seven arrows, symbolizing the seven provinces of the Netherlands.

For a popular series (to lump them all together for simplicity - "Dutch trade dollars/thalers"), not many seem to come up on this board...

That is more precisely a 1620 RijksDAALDER (Anglicized as "rix dollar"... called a Reichsthaler auf Deutsch). The province is Gelderland... the actual legend text where that would be indicated is eaten away, but the logo on the knight's cute little boutique bag serves as a pictorial ID. Late 1610s-early 1620s seem to be the years of heavy production (across the provinces), though there are earlier and later dates...

You don't see all that many wreck examples of the Rijksdaalder on the market (as opposed to, say, Ducatons) for several reasons... The one wreck that I know of which produced a number of them is the Vergulde Draeck off Australia... Go to Google Images and search rijksdaalder wa.gov to see some examples from the Western Australia Museum collection.

Also, I actually have a fairly nice 1620 Rijksdaalder from the Meresteijn/Merestein wreck of 170-something...
