Hope everyone had a nice holiday. Found this yesterday. Looks like a die cap to me? If so,what stage? Too bad the reverse is damaged What value does it have? If it is a die cap it is the first one I have found. Thanks all,John1

Because of the squareness of the rim I would say this is Struck Through Grease and a nice one.

I think "WE TRUST" would not be that clear if it was struck by a capped die.Very nice Greaser.

To me it looks like an indent of the memorial building on the obverse which I thought was an indicator of a die cap.

Seems there is more to this than a Greaser. What does it weigh?

Struck Through a Split or Torn Die Cap from error-ref.com

I guess if a piece of the cap split and fell away it might let the uncovered design print but would it be this strong?
Maybe Mike or Jason could shed more light on this.

Grease/die fill isn't always dispersed evenly across the die, and understandably so. That said, it does have an interesting appearance on this coin.

Mike has spoken . I was hopping that I found my first capped die but o'well at least it is a nice unusual Grease Filled Die. I want to thank all of you for your help.
