Nice one Artdio, I'm going to guess and say this is ICCS EF-40. Details look AU but I think the scratches lower it a grade or two.

@ Nathan , this 1919 is higher than 40 ...The scratches you mention are all on the plastic. In hand you would see the sweet toning and all the underlying luster..They gave it an AU 58.. Myself it should have went MS for sure.. OK pics of bothe 1920's coming up

@Artdio, wow was I off! The scratches can be very misleading and now that you mention it, I can sort off see the toning you were talking about on the reverse.

@AgCoinAu, it does look like a 1921, you should call it a 1921 unless you already have one.

The coin actually looks like a 1921 if only you couldn't see the other side of the 0

HAhhhahah it's the closest thing I'll EVER come to a '21... dollarman.. perhaps I should take my thumb and rub that other side of the zero... who knows a couple weeks of that and it could turn into a '21 yeah?

@ AG...heres what to do....Buy a nicer 1920, and put this one in the 21 slot ..After a few years you will just see it as a 21 at least until a real one comes up

Hahahh Great idea Artdio!

In my life I don't expect to see many '21 50 cent pieces.. but I AM excited that this week sometime I may go check out a '21 nickel...

(It's part of someone elses collection but even just to see a real one will be AWESOME)

5 digit certificate number, but not embossed.

I don't think it has the lustre to make AU.

Ok well here it is..I received this as an inheratance from my grandfather ..He got this coin back in the 20's as a gift from his boss..Of course back then it was worth only 50 cents..he used it as a pocket piece for many years, and loved keeping it shiny... Not sure when he stopped because when I got it it was coated in laquer... Anyhow aomeone removed it because it was ugly. You can see the abrasive cleaning on the obv ( grandpa's work ) and there is some corrosion all be it light.. But there it is.. coin was tested for metal content and is 100% legit.. and dont ask why no TPG its been sent..Long story all had different opinions..But for me its always gonna sit pretty with the rest and not for sale.
