Does anyone ever wonder what happens to the damaged coins that people believe are rare varieties and they foolishly send them off to be graded? Here is a "Recovered" 1943-S Steel Cent for only $1,000. The seller doesn't say from where it was "recovered" - A bank vault? The ground? The ocean? His sock drawer? Area 51? But it is "recovered" so it must be rare and valuable. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Recovered-...AOSwqspcqNKG  Paul Bulgerin

@captainrich, I also love how that seller offers the coins for local pickup. Look at the seller's feedback and the stuff he has been selling. ebay at its finest! @Paul Bulgerin, I think that poor wire-brushed "recovered" 1943-S ought to be re-buried! |

Paul Bulgerin, the 1943 Lincoln Wheat cent is nothing more than a cleaned crappy junk coin! That seller is very ignorant and clueless. Has no brains at all.   Errers and Varietys.

Is it the texture on the Washington side of the coin? Is it silver?" The reply: "I believe it's the texture."   |

Pauldog, that seller is super ignorant and doesn't know anything about coins at all! They are not rare at all. Errers and Varietys.

I was pretty sure of that, but I posted it to be 100% sure. The proof silver version is somewhat special, but the quarter on ebay is just a plain old worn coin. My remark with the exclamation point was meant to be sarcastic. I think the one I have is in better condition, hence less rare to the ebay seller. I suppose the seller must be ignorant rather than crafty, since a crafty seller would realize that nobody would buy it. Edited by Pauldog

And the third offering by the same ebay seller: For only $298, a Old 1c Indian Head penny 1908 Key Date USA Coin inside plastic seal Uncirculated I wasn't aware a 1908 IHC suddenly became a key date. On the other hand, it IS bright and shiny and slabbed and certainly won't be circulating much any more.  |
